BEHAVIOUR CHANGE ISN’T LINEAR

Want to know why so many people fuck up when it comes down to changing long term?

It’s because they don’t realise that change isn’t linear (Just like fat loss).

It isn’t just as simple as… I’ve done 5 press ups so I am now an exerciser.

I’ve eaten half a salad, I’m now healthy.

Behaviour change isn’t linear, it’s a circle and you can AND WILL come off the circle at any time.

The quicker you get yourself back onto the circle the easier it will be for you. (This is the point you want to drill in)

The quicker I get back on the better I will feel.

If you were driving along the road and you noticed you were suddenly driving on the hard shoulder… you wouldn’t stay there or drive on the grass would you?

No, you’d quickly get back onto the road, because it’s the most sensible thing to do right?

Well if you want to change for the long term… this is what you also need to do, get back onto the road as soon as possible.

Understand that and understand that part and parcel of being human is that you’re not a robot.

You will have days when you fall off, can’t be arsed.

But these days you need to be rational, ask yourself the question…

What truly do I want?

Is this current behaviour going to get me there?

What do I need to do?

Why?

Don’t fall foul of a normal human response by thinking that you’re special and that this is only happening to you.

You’re not different, neither are you special.

It’s part and parcel of change.

Everyone goes through it.
